Aluminium Lung

Common Name(s)

Aluminium Lung

Aluminium Lung is a breathing condition that is found in individuals who breath in chemicals or air that products made up of aluminium. These products include aluminium ore and a chemical blend of aluminium and phosphorus called grain preservative. People who are diagnosed with this condition are usually found to have changes in their breathing habits. In severe cases, they may have a continuous cough, known as chronic bronchitis, or have chronic shortness of breath. If you find yourself having these symptoms and have a history of exposure to aluminium ore (e.g. metal-working occupation), medical testing is available to look for aluminium particles within your body. Different medications are available for treatment, which are designed to help an affected individual breath more easily and decrease the frequency of cough.
