Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Common Name(s)

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC, NPCA) is a multifactorial malignancy associated with both genetic and environmental factors. The cancer arises from the epithelium of the nasopharynx. The Epstein-Barr virus has been implicated ({12:Tse et al., 2009}). Genetic Heterogeneity of Susceptibility to Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma NPCA1 maps to chromosome 4p. NPCA2 ({161550}) maps to chromosome 6p21. NPCA3 ({617075}) is associated with variation in the MST1R gene ({600168}) on chromosome 3p21.

Role of regenerating gene IA expression on local invasion and survival in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Author(s): Haijie Xing, Xiangdong Chen, Yaofeng Han

Journal:

Regenerating gene IA (REGIA) plays an important role in tissue regeneration and tumors prognosis of epithelium origin. However, the role of REGIA in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is unclear. This study aims to investigate the expression and function of REG1A in NPC.

Prognostic role of C-reactive protein in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma: A meta-analysis and literature review.

Author(s): Yi Fang, Chang Xu, Peng Wu, Ling-Hao Zhang, Da-Wei Li, Jie-Hao Sun, Wen-Feng Li, Zhi-Su Liao

Journal: Medicine (Baltimore). 2017 Nov;96(45):e8463.

C-reactive protein (CRP) has been shown to be associated with several tumors. However, its association with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is not well characterized. We performed a literature review and meta-analysis to assess the prognostic relevance of elevated CRP levels in patients with NPC.
