Description
The New England Genetics Collaborative (NEGC) is a HRSA funded regional project that seeks to coordinate and increase access to genetic services for children with disorders detected by the newborn screening blood test, birth defects and with other genetic disorders. Amy Schwartz, the project director provides a general overview of the project and discusses: 1) the region's work in the area of quality improvement for genetic services; 2) activities to support the formation of medical homes and seamless transition to adult medicine for children with genetic conditions and heritable disorders; 3) the NEGC’s innovative grant program and funded projects; and 4) efforts to improve teacher response to children with genetic disorders in the classroom. Ms. Schwartz discusses ways you can get involved in the work of the NEGC.
