Genetic Alliance webinars
Description
Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases (TRND) Program - a Congressionally mandated effort to encourage and speed the development of new drugs for rare and neglected diseases. A rare disease is defined as a condition affecting fewer than 200,000 people; neglected are diseases lacking substantial therapeutic development activity. Many genetic diseases are both rare and neglected, there are more than 6,000 rare and neglected diseases affecting over 25 million Americans. The TRND program will focus on the preclinical stages of drug development that currently separate basic research from human testing of new drugs. TRND is a collaborative program developed by the NIH Chemical Genomics Center of the NHGRI and the Office of Rare Diseases Research.
